The University of Michigan has launched an online program that could transform your career.
According to the university’s online Bachelor of Accounting Degree Program, the program is a unique opportunity for students to earn an accounting degree through online courses that are accessible to all students.
In an interview with The Huffington Post, senior finance and accounting instructor David F. Gorman, a former professor at the university, said, “The idea was to give our students the tools they need to get their career started, even if they’re not technically accounting professionals.”
Gorman said that students who are interested in pursuing a career in accounting should take a class that “provides a comprehensive foundation in accounting.”
“If they want to be certified in accounting, they should take one of our courses, but if they want more advanced skills like auditing and accounting management, they shouldn’t need to take any classes,” he said.
The program is the first to offer online accounting education.
Previous online programs have focused on accounting and finance, but it is the most widely offered accounting degree program.
